A Lifetime of Building. A New Way of Helping.
I've spent more than 30 years in the construction and home improvement industry, with experience building, renovating, and working on hundreds of homes.
These days, I'm a semi-retired contractor who prefers smaller projects, practical solutions, and helping homeowners take better care of their properties.
That's what The Handy Nomad is all about.
From handyman services and cabin care to handcrafted storage solutions and free maintenance advice, my goal is to share the experience I've gained over the years and help people protect, maintain, and enjoy their homes.
Experience You Can Put to Work
Over the years, I've been involved in building, remodeling, and renovating hundreds of homes. That experience has taught me that the smallest details often make the biggest difference.
I've also learned that many expensive repairs begin as small problems that could have been prevented with a little attention and maintenance.
Today, as a semi-retired contractor, I focus on smaller projects—typically jobs that can be completed in three days or less. I enjoy solving problems, making practical improvements, and helping homeowners get those projects finished that never seem to make it off the to-do list.
I'm licensed and insured, and I bring the same attention to detail to a small repair that I would to a much larger construction project.
My approach is straightforward: do the job properly, offer practical advice, and help people make informed decisions about their homes.
What The Handy Nomad Offers
Handyman Services
Small repairs, installations, maintenance, and home improvements. I focus on projects that can typically be completed in three days or less, bringing decades of construction experience to jobs homeowners need done right.
Cabin Care
Practical maintenance and seasonal care for cabins and vacation properties. From opening and closing preparations to identifying potential problems before they become expensive repairs, the goal is to help owners protect their investment.
Handcrafted Products & Storage Solutions
Useful, thoughtfully designed products built with practicality and durability in mind. From garage storage solutions to handcrafted decorations, we're developing products that make homes more organized, functional, and enjoyable.
Free Home & Cabin Maintenance Guides
I believe prevention is often the most affordable home improvement. That's why we offer free checklists, seasonal maintenance reminders, and practical advice to help homeowners recognize small problems before they become costly ones.
Building Something Bigger
The Handy Nomad is about more than maintaining homes and creating useful products. We're also working toward something that means a great deal to us.
In coordination with our sister organization, Bright Futures Reading Lab (BFRL.Academy), our goal is to establish a foundation during the first quarter of 2027 dedicated to helping children become confident readers.
Bright Futures Reading Lab specializes in helping children who struggle with reading through individualized instruction, structured literacy, and parent involvement.
We're currently raising funds through the sale of our handcrafted products and decorations to help establish a foundation focused on two important goals:
Reading Scholarships
Helping families access specialized reading instruction when financial circumstances might otherwise prevent it.
Reading Tools for Everyone
Developing practical educational resources and reading tools that will be freely available to children, parents, and educators. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to become a confident reader, regardless of their family's financial circumstances.
An important note: The foundation has not yet been established. Purchases from The Handy Nomad are retail purchases, not tax-deductible charitable donations.
Follow Our Progress
We're just getting started, and we'd love for you to follow along.
As we work toward establishing the foundation in early 2027, we'll share updates about our progress, plans for reading scholarships, and the educational tools we're developing.
We invite you to check back regularly to see how our mission is progressing and what we're accomplishing together.
In the meantime, learn more about our sister organization at BFRL.Academy.
Thank you for helping us build something bigger.
